Georgia Jack Russell Rescue

Georgia Jack Russell Rescue

A Volunteer Organization. * Affiliated with the national rescue network of the Jack Russell Terrier Club of America, we have saved thousands of terriers in need and found them loving homes. The majority of terriers are surrendered simply because their owners are unprepared for the demands required of this feisty breed, such as a good FENCED YARD [Apartments don't work unless you're interested in a mature dog and can devote time to lots of Walking]. *PLEASE- IF YOU DON'T FIND A DOG YOU LIKE ON OUR SITE, CHECK LOCAL SHELTERS -JRs ARE POSTED DAILY, + MANY DO NOT MAKE IT OUT OF THE SHELTERS* We encourage you to visit the web site of the JRTCA and read "Is the JRT the right dog for me?" Often described as a "Big dog in a Little Body, " Parson [Jack] Russells were bred to hunt earthbound game & require diligent training. Though intelligent, playful, and loyal, they don't always undersand how to respond gently to unsupervised young children. They thrive with owners who can provide them with lots of exercise and time to work off often endless energy. Frasier's EDDIE was a rescue dog, as was 'Wishbone.' If you have children, cats, or other dogs, please let us know, so we can try to find a terrier that will fit into your home.

To adopt a terrier: We ask a small adoption fee as reimbursement for boarding or to cover a Portion of vet services the Terrier has required whilst in our care. This aids in covering our costs for neutering/ spaying/ vaccinations /heartworm+ treatment / flea preventative/heartworm preventative/ hospitalization/medications..and surgeries, to repair damages from Abuse. There are several ways to adopt a terrier. The best way is to e-mail us and we will send you an electronic version of the application. We can also mail you an application via the U.S. postal service. You may also call us and complete your application that way. The application is imperative if you wish to be considered for a terrier.

To SURRENDER YOUR PET: Georgia is currently experiencing record numbers of discarded pets. We have one foster home, which is continually full to capacity. We will need to work together as a team to place your pet. If you have a terrier that you would like us to consider as a candidate for rescue, please call or e-mail us. WE MUST SEE A PICTURE OF YOUR DOG TO DETERMINE IF IT IS A JACK RUSSELL TERRIER. YOUR PET MUST BE SPAYED/NEUTERED; UP TO DATE ON ALL VACCINATIONS, with PROOF OF NEGATIVE HEARTWORM. We will need you to fill out a profile on the dog w/ one or more photographs. Rescue cannot help you without SPEAKING WITH YOU INITIALLY. We need to know EVERYTHING about your dog, good and bad, to help us make a proper placement.
